Michigan this week became the latest state to ban direct consumer sales of cars by auto manufacturers, a move essentially directed at Tesla Motors, though the new law doesn't specifically name the electric vehicle maker. Keeping to a Tuesday deadline , Governor Rick Snyder signed a bill prohibiting automakers from selling vehicles directly to retail customers other than through franchised dealers.
