The stocks of most publicly traded companies based in Central Massachusetts rose during 2014, a year marked by gains for many investors. Medical technology business Arrhythmia Research Technology Inc. of Fitchburg led stocks that jumped, rising 143 percent to close the year at $7.70 a share.
