(Telecompaper) Mozilla has unveiled the first commercial version of its Firefox mobile operating system at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and announced new operator, manufacturer and content partners for the planned phones. America Movil, Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica and Telenor will be the first to launch Firefox phones, expected to hit the market by mid-year or early in the second half. The other operators committed to launching the phones later in the year are China Unicom, Etisalat, Hutchison Three Group, KDDI, KT, MegaFon, Qtel, SingTel, Smart, Sprint, Telecom Italia Group, TMN and VimpelCom. Alcatel (TCL), LG and ZTE will build the first devices running the HTML5-based Firefox OS, with Huawei to follow later in the year. All the phones will run Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. In line with other OS, Mozilla will also offer the Firefox Marketplace app store. Some of the first apps available will include AccuWeather, Box, Cut the Rope, Disney mobile games, EA games, Facebook, Nokia Here, MTV Brasil, Pulse News, SoundCloud, SporTV, Terra, Time Out and Twitter. Mozilla also unveiled its new Firefox OS consumer identity and brand marketing campaign. The tagline "unleashes the Fox" underlines the qualities fun and friendly, supportive and protective, and fast and powerful, Mozilla said.
