NREL's Energy Storage group, working with Energy Department, automotive battery developers, and car manufacturers, aim to enhance performance and durability of advanced lithium-ion batteries via crystalline nanotubes and nanorods to enable clean, secure transportation future. Scientists at NREL are able to create useful objects as well as guide their formations into particular shapes. Nanotubes and nanorods can be combined to aid battery charging while reducing swelling and shrinking.
