As published in Energy & Environmental Science, "Adipic acid production from lignin" study demonstrates conversion of lignin-derived compounds to adipic acid. This advances goal of garnering more uses from lignin, which could impact biofuels industry. Research in this study also shows adipic acid can be produced from renewable resource, which might have important ramifications for mitigating greenhouse gases.
