New ruling denies Marin jurisdictions power to ban smart meters

2014-12-07 03:22:43| Energy - Topix.net

The California Public Utilities Commission has issued a preliminary decision denying a request from several counties and municipalities - including the county of Marin, Fairfax and Ross - to allow local governments or multi-unit buildings to opt out of smart meter installation by Pacific Gas and Electric and other state utilities. "I know for a lot of residents in Fairfax the decision does not resolve the issues that we raised," Fairfax Councilman Larry Bragman said, briefing fellow council members on the decision Wednesday night.
