For Astrium Satellites in Munich within the department Optical Design Performance we are looking for an Optical Designer fm. The optical design activities are dedicated to systems andor subsystems like spectrometers, interferometers, high resolution spectral cameras and LIDAR systems. The Optical Design and Analysis Engineer is responsible for the optical design and optical analysis tasks to be performed within an optical instrument project. Your responsibilities will include Performing optical design and analysis tasks and related optical engineering Supporting optical subsystemsparts procurement, instrument optical alignment definition, and verification of optical performance parameters Defining and performing the necessary modeling and simulation including typical optical design, straylight, polarization etc. Contributing to instrument requirement definitions, breakdown and budgeting, considering optical performance parameters as well as optomechanical tolerances and stabilities Supporting the instrument development in questions of manufacturability, material selection, space compatibility, costs and technological readiness Contributing to the documentation presentation of instrument designs, optical performance analyses and tradeoffs Supporting system engineering in the derivation of subsystem optical requirements Hold a degree in Optical Engineering or an equivalent discipline e.g. Physics plus good understanding of design and the related optomechanical aspects Professional experience in the field of optical instruments, preferably in the space sector Broad knowledge of optical design of instruments Code V, Zemax, ASAP, FRED Professional background in optical design and the related optomechanical aspects of optical instruments, preferably for space applications Knowledge of supplier capabilities and resources as well as a detailed knowhow in optical instruments operating in space are a plus Dedicated expertise in optical instrument hardware and related engineering including AIVAIT Good interpersonal skills and a team player in multidisciplinary projects Customer and resultsoriented Good communication skills and convincing presentation capability Experience of handling multiple priorities whilst working to tight deadlines Advanced English language skills knowledge of another EADS language would be a plus If you are interested in this position, please apply online via www.jobs.airbusgroup.com.
