Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs) need to have their measurement speeds estimates and optimized often for peak automation within larger measurement systems or production environments. The determining factors for a VNA’s measurement cycle consists of the per-point tuning and settling time of the generator, the per-point measurement time, and a per-sweep time needed to process and transfer results, switch the generator between output ports, and return the generator to the start frequency. This application note discusses the components of the measurement cycle, as well as how to achieve an accurate estimation for a given set of stimulus and measurement parameters.
