(Telecompaper) The Palm brand name soon may return to the smartphone market. According to Telecompaper's sister site GSMHelpdesk, the company Wide Progress Limited has bought the rights to the brand name and plans to re-introduce it on the market soon. Wide Progress is led by Li Dongsheng, the chairman of TCL Communication Technology, maker of Alcatel Onetouch brand phones. In 2010, Palm stopped its business, and its brand and webOS operating system were sold to HP. WebOS was later sold in 2012 to LG, which is using the software for its smart TVs. Wide Progress has now acquired the brand name. The website mynewpalm.com features only the information 'Coming soon'.
