Qantas, China Eastern deals deepen

The competition watchdog has been urged to ensure Qantas and China Eastern maintain their present number of flights on a key route between Australia and China if it gives them approval to deepen their alliance. While supportive of the planned deal, Austrade said there was a risk the airlines may seek to maximise yields on the Sydney-Shanghai route instead of passing on savings to travellers in the form of cheaper fares.
