Food waste in the U.S. has returned to 2016 levels after a temporary decline during the COVID-19 pandemic, putting the country off track to meet its goal of halving food waste by 2030, according to ReFEDs 2025 report. Despite over $900 million invested in 2024 and encouraging reductions by some businesses, households remain the largest contributors, wasting food worth nearly $800 per person annually. [ more ]
