A vacancy for a Remote Sensing Analyst has arisen within the UK Applications department of Airbus Defence Space in Leicester. You will be reporting to the Oil Gas and Mining Applications Supervisor. Airbus Defence and Space Services GEOIntelligence programme line has become a recognised world leader in the geoinformation market and offers an unrivalled combination of Earth Observation imagery and geoinformation products and services. You will be responsible for the processing and analysis of remotely sensed imagery for a range of applications, primarily focused on consultancy for the oil, gas and mining sector. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Currently the team have a broad range of skills and knowledge including data and sensors, image processing, offshore hydrocarbon seep mapping, environmental analysis, geological interpretation and GIS. The need for additional skills, in the form of a Remote Sensing Analyst, has been identified to support the growing demand from our clients. It is envisaged that a significant part of the role will involve hydrocarbon seep mapping from SAR imagery and analysis of remotely sensed data, working in conjunction with Airbus Defence and Spaces Senior Analysts. The role will also include supporting other areas within the Applications department including client interaction, presentations at external conferences and customer training consultancy. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience BSc. degree in Geomatics, Physical Geography, Environmental Science or related fields. MSc. utilising satellite image processing and analysis would be an asset. Good knowledge of Image Processing techniques. Experience of software such as ERDAS, ArcGIS, NEST and Sentinel1 toolbox would be an asset. Should have good skills in Optical and SAR image analysis. Programming in C, C, Java and Python, for both Windows and Linux environments would be an asset Good oral and written communication skills in English. Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually. Strong organisational skills, proactive, independent.
