Could you contribute to the scientific development, maintenance and quality monitoring of ocean colour products derived from satellite based observations? EUMETSAT operates the Copernicus missions on behalf of the European Commission, providing marine and atmospheric data services to monitor the dynamics of the ocean and marine ecosystems. To support the remote sensing activities of these missions we are recruiting for a scientist to be responsible for the development, maintenance and validation of products derived from Copernicus Sentinel3 ocean colour instrument. Your role at EUMETSAT Within this role you will help develop requirements for new and improved Copernicus ocean colour and other marine optical products. These activities will provide the opportunity to actively support operational and scientific interactions with user communities and the Copernicus Marine Environmental Monitoring Service, responding to their evolving needs. You will have the chance to support both prototyping and the operational implementation of advanced algorithms for improved and new marine optical products from Sentinel3 and other Copernicus relevant missions. You will also be expected to support mission operations with respect to processing anomalies, change requests, new processing baselines and regression testing. To be successful you should have a degree level qualification in remote sensing or another relevant discipline. You should also acquire and maintain an in depth understanding of the observational capabilities of the Sentinel3 ocean colour instrument and other relevant ocean colour instruments. We would expect you to have an indepth knowledge of optical observations of the ocean, in particular Ocean Colour Radiometry, and demonstrable experience of working with user communities and researchers. You should also have experience of working in a UNIX environment and knowledge scientificallyoriented coding languages. What we offer We work in a collaborative, international environment which offers you a competitive salary and outstanding benefits. We offer the opportunity to work on exciting satellite programmes both current and planned. You will have the opportunity to play a leading role in the application of remote sensing science, making a difference to our user community. You will work with people who are experts in their field and will have the opportunity to establish a long career at EUMETSAT. Does this sound like you? Have a look at our website to find out how you can help us make a world of difference.
