(Telecompaper) Samsung Electronics is discontinuing its ChatOn mobile-messaging service. Samsung said it would end support for the service in the first quarter next year in order to focus on other services in health, mobile commerce and other platforms. The company cited the "fast-changing market environment" for the decision, the Wall Street Journal reports. The service will formally shut down on 01 February, except in the US, where it will be wound down some time before the end of March. ChatOn was first launched in 2011 and came pre-installed on most Samsung smartphones. The app was available in 67 languages in 237 countries, and Samsung claimed a user base of over 200 million.
