Solenix is specialized in the provision of highquality software engineering, technical consulting and operations services in the aerospace domain. This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. We are looking for a Science Writer for our client, EUMETSAT. You will join the Strategy, Communication and International Relations Division SCIR and provide support to a number of activities incorporating the preparation of written content for EUMETSATs website, blogs and other publications. You will contribute to both the external and the internal communication channels by delivering compelling, attractive, and informative articles and texts on the scientific and technical activities of EUMETSAT for a variety of audiences. Typical tasks will include Write science and technologyrelated articles for EUMETSATs various online communication platforms Develop content for printed publications such as brochures, leaflets and other documents as necessary Suggest, and potentially implement, innovative formats to convey scientific and technology content in a compelling and attractive way to nonexpert audiences Liaise with science and technical staff in EUMETSAT and other partner organisations to identify and develop interesting article ideas Provide suggestions for scientific content for EUMETSATs social media channels Twitter, Facebook, Instagram working closely with the social media content coordinator Text and content to be delivered predominantly in Microsoft Word format. For limited periods, you may be required to provide service during the weekend or exceptionally during public holidays. You may also occasionally be scheduled to work before 7.00 or after 20.00 hours. Any such instances will be scheduled and agreed to in advance. Required Skills and Experience At least four years proven track record in scientific and technological content development for nonexpert audiences. A thorough understanding and proven practical experience of authoring scientific and technical items that are understandable to a lay audience. Proven experience in drafting science and technologyrelated texts that incorporate some pertinent storytelling in order to reach out to various audiences beyond the experts, in order to make these topics interesting and engaging, is essential. Proven experience in liaising with relevant stakeholders as well as organising and holding interviews with scientific and technical experts. Excellent communication skills and be used to working towards high standards. C2 English level in CEFR Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Excellent written and interpersonal skills. Desirable Skills and Experience A relevant university degree or similar qualification would also be considered an advantage. The capacity to also deliver text in French would be an asset.
