Serco and Proud Make a difference every day. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior IT System Administrator, based in North Italy. Main Responsibilities The right candidate will focus on the following tasks Perform and coordinate effective installation of operating systems and properly configure hardware and software on servers. Administer Operating Systems, install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems. Plan and perform appropriate procedures, documentation, inventory assessment, and other procedures related to systems management. Maintain, monitor, analyse system components and make recommendations regarding computer system security, computer system performance, disk and other components utilisation. Monitor systems and applications performances to track operating efficiency. Test and implement technical solutions and provide strong operational support on virtualisation architectures. Work with team to automate management tasks, streamline processes and perform standard administration functions as needed. Conduct software and hardware evaluations, provide technical analysis and implement systems to meet Customers IT goals. Report status and flags issues to Service Manager and to Customer representative. The Ideal Candidate The right candidate will bring Secondary school diploma plus eight 8 years of proven experience in the field of which at least six 6 years of experience with Microsoft Windows Server administration tool, three 3 years in a Windows Server environment supporting 500 users, experience with Group Policies, four 4 years experience supporting Microsoft Cluster Services, three 3 years experience installing and operating Microsoft Internet Information Server, three 3 years experience installing and operating VMware ESXi and VMware vCenter. Solid experience matured on Datacenter environments on storage and data management products, Intel based servers and SANNAS technologies. Strong experience in setting up Virtual environments both on Physical and Cloud Paltforms. Strong experience in moving from Physical to Virtual. Technical skills Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and related management tools. Comprehensive technical knowledge of Windows Active Directory. Extensive knowledge of Windows OS installationadministration and tuning. Extensive knowledge of VMWare installationadministration and tuning. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 platform, Exchange solutions and unified communication technologies. Knowledge of VMware scripting reporting and deployments. Knowledge of storage and data management products, Intel based servers and SANNAS technologies. Good understanding of ITIL practices and knowledge of the COBIT framework. Good Knowledge of Linux Operating system. Knowledge of SUN Solaris, HPUX, IBMAIX. knowledge of DiskArray installationadministration and tuning. Knowledge of SAN installationadministration and tuning. knowledge of data backups solution. knowledge of High Availability installationadministration and tuning. knowledge of network management, firewall and security on LinuxWindows. Knowledge of DBA OracleMysqlPostgres. Relevant certifications in the relevant technologies are a strong asset. Personal Skill Excellent written and oral command of English. Knowledge of Italian is not mandatory but would be an asset. Capability of integration in an internationalmulticultural environment, rapid selfstarting capability and experience in team working are mandatory. Capacity of achieving schedule and milestones.
