An exciting and challenging engineering opportunity has just arisen to coordinate system activities for the Jason continuity of service programme as part of the Low Earth Orbit division at Europes Meteorological Satellite Organisation. This role offers the key candidate the chance to utilise and develop their existing experience and knowledge of space applications alongside other industry experts in a large, international organisation. The key candidate shall be involved in the specification and design of the system and in systemlevel integration, verification and validation of the combined space and ground segments, they shall also support the development and procurement of the space segment and the ground segment. The holder of this position shall require the confidence to make decisions within a complex system environment and have the skills to operate in a transverse manner, dealing with many engineering problems simultaneously The successful candidate shall have skillsexperience in each of the following areas experience in the field of specification, design, production, integration and testing of space borne systems for Earth observation Direct experience in the development of instruments andor the related onground processing chain, with an indepth understanding of mutual implications. Good overall knowledge of all functions of a space borne system, including monitoring and control of satellites, spacetoground and onground interfaces, instruments, data acquisition and realtime data processing and dissemination Demonstrated ability to perform analyses of a System combined space and ground segment topdown and to perform syntheses and compile technical budgets from scratch. Demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues and to synthesise matters in a concise way, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience in overall planning, coordination and technical guidance of engineering activities would be considered advantageous. Candidates must be able to work effectively as part of a team but also work independently with a proactive and assertive attitude. Candidates require team leader qualities with the ability to make decisions. All applicants must be EUMETSAT member state nationals and have a good working knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written.
