Shanta Kumars FCI report may make Punjab lose revenue

If the recommendations of a committee headed by senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar on restructuring of the Food Corporation of India are accepted, Punjab will suffer revenue loss of around Rs 2,000 crore every year. The committee's report, submitted to the Union government on Thursday, has recommended cutting down taxes levied on foodgrains procured in the state from the present 14.5% to just 3%.
