Job description For our customer, the European Space Agency ESA, we are seeking to recruit an experienced Software Engineer with excellent Java skills to work at ESAs ESTEC site in Noordwijk, in the Netherlands to expand our software team. Responsibilities You will be assigned to ESAs Software Division in the Directorate of Technology and Quality Management TEC to support the development of a large Java based tool suite the European Ground System Common Core EGSCC. This tool suite is intended as a next generation common infrastructure to support space systems satellite monitoring and control in pre and postlaunch phases for all space mission types. The initial focus of this position will be on the EGSCC Test Management Tool. The exact tasks will depend on the profile of the selected candidate but are expected to encompass Software prototyping, primarily in Java and relational databases with the goal of, amongst other features, of allowing concurrent access. Software testing and verification. Provision of expert advice in technology areas of competence. Liaison with technical counterparts in industrial partners of the EGSCC development consortium. The requested start of work is 1st July 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a Masters degree in Software Engineering, ICT or equivalent. Essential skills are At least 4 years of demonstrated experience including working in large software development projects. Expert knowledge of Java development using the Eclipse environment. Experience with relational databases e.g. Oracle, MySQL etc. Good general IT knowledge of modern clientserver systems and component based development. Familiarity with software development following formal standards and modern software development methodologies e.g. UML, Agile. Experience with formal software testing and verification for mission critical environments. Experience with development for Windows as well as Linux OS. Experience with software configuration management tools SVN, Git, etc. Capability of working in a distributed virtual team. Fluency in English, both in speech and writing, with good communication skills. The following are additional assets Familiarity with development for engineeringhightechnology environments is desirable. Prior experience with ESA or similar organisations andor space projects would be useful. Knowledge of forerunner and current generation satellite checkout and mission control software e.g. SCOS 2000 would be useful but is not expected. What can Terma Offer?
