By Ron Ketchem and Mark Rix, Swine Management Services LLC The Swine Management Services (SMS) database of close to 1.2 million sows provides production data to help answer questions about the sow housing methods being discussed in pork industry circles. In order to take a closer look at the data, SMS has broken out production results related to sows housed in gestation stalls compared to pen gestation systems in which the sows are being fed with electronic sow feeding (ESF) systems. read more
