Sustainability has grown to become a crucial issue within the global cotton industry, for farmers, retailers and consumers alike. In order to secure the survival of the industry for generations to come, alternatives to conventional cotton need to be expanded among all stakeholders. The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is leading the way towards a more sustainable cotton industry, although the most sustainable options, organic cotton and recycled cotton, still have a long way to go. This report showcases the future prospects of a sustainable cotton industry and gives new insights from the BCI Global Cotton Conference 2018.
