Post System Architecture Analyst This post is for a limited duration of 4 years, nonrenewable, and is classified A2A4 on the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. Location ESRIN, Frascati, Italy Description System Architecture Analyst in the System Architect Office in the Future Systems Department, Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes. Duties The postholder will report to the Head of the System Architect Office and duties will notably include working in a multidisciplinary team in active cooperation with other staff of the Directorate and ESA, as well as in cooperation with industry and research communities in the framework of ESA Earth observation programmes. providing indepth analyses to support the tasks of establishing and maintaining a reference architecture for European EO systems that will encompass research missions e.g. Earth Explorers, Copernicus and meteorological missions, multilateral national and commercial systems, nonorbiting platforms e.g. High Altitude PseudoSatellites and insitu assets. This may include analyses of the plans and interests of Member States and other stakeholders, based on their needs, requirements and constraints. Analysing the needs and interests for different Earth observation mission types from different actors, the economic capacity of the relevant programmefunding sources, including privatecommercial contributions, the postholder will analyse the possibilities and opportunities for programmatic overlaps, links, and synergies. Supporting the mapping of industrial capacities for upstreamdownstream Earth observation segments and the analyses of business models and their interplay with institutional funding and assets performed within the Office. Preparing and presenting summary reports and communication materials. Technical competencies Familiarity with space technologies, methods, markets and related trends Background in engineering or a relevant scientific discipline Knowledge of EO science, products, applications and services Behavioural competencies Innovation Creativity Problem Solving Self Motivation Education Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree in relevant disciplines, e.g. engineering. Additional requirements 5 years work experience in the relative domain Computer programming Ability to work autonomously Other information For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff in general, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
