(Telecompaper) T-Mobile US announced a new programme to promote Wi-FI calling for its customers. Called 'Wi-Fi' Unleashed', it will see customers able to upgrade faster to phones supporting Wi-Fi calling and texting, through the operator's Jump prgramme. T-Mobile is also introducing its own home hotspot. The T-Mobile Personal CellSpot can replace a router or function alongside it, providing a hotspot with priority for HD Voice calls. It is available free to all Simple Choice subscribers with a smartphone that supports Wi-Fi calling, after a USD 25 refundable deposit. To extend Wi-Fi calling to the sky, T-Mobile also announced a partnership with Gogo, a provider of in-flight internet services. Through the partnership, T-Mobile customers will be able to send and receive unlimited text and picture messages, and receive visual voicemail, on any Gogo-equipped flight on US-based airlines. That's more than 75 percent of domestic flights carrying close to 300 million people last year.
