Tea union demands wage hike

Jorhat, Dec. 13: The Chah Shramik Mukti Sangram Samiti, Asom, a tea workers' union, today demanded that the wages for tea workers be increased to Rs 400 from the existing Rs 94 on expiry of the three-year wage agreement on December 31. It has also demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged difference of amount, which the management was paying the Food Corporation of India, to procure rice and flour as ration and the amount being deducted from the wages of workers, alleging that a scam was going on for years.
