(Telecompaper) Spanish operator Telefonica is negotiating an agreement with its two main rivals in the Brazilian market, America Movil and TIM, to jointly purchase the assets of Oi, sources close to the process told Spanish daily Expansion. The idea is to jointly buy the Brazilian operator and then distribute the assets. Telefonica may also try to reach an agreement only with TIM, since the advantages of the purchase for both are greater than in the case of America Movil, which recently acquired Nextel Brasil and its frequency spectrum.
