Hundreds of Australians with metal hip replacements fear their bodies have been poisoned by cobalt and chromium leaching from the implants. While the national Therapeutic Goods Administration maintains there is "insufficient evidence" of a definite link, many patients have reported matching symptoms -- nausea, vertigo, headaches, heart problems and more.
