This is a job for an experienced UnixLinux System Administrator. The role is related to the maintenance and operation of an operational computer infrastructure consisting of 1000 servers and clients. The successful applicant will become a member of the 2nd Level IT Support Team, based at our customer ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. You should be able to start at 01.04.2018 or latest 01.06.2018. The job is fulltime and permanent. Deadline for submission is 26.01.2018. We are looking forward to meeting you! ResponsibilitiesDuties Operating system installation and configuration. Diagnosis, reporting and correction of system software faultsuser problems Planning, preparation, testing and implementation of maintenance activities such as patch installation and software upgrades Interfacing with 1st and 3rd line support, and other internal 2nd line support teams. Auditing and accounting. Maintenance of inhouse produced software and documentation. Performing extra support activities as requested, including working outside the normal working hours. QualificationsExperience A university degree in Computer Science or equivalent. At least 5 years experience as Unix System Administrator. The successful candidate will have strong resultsoriented and planning capabilities, coupled with very good problemsolving skills and a pronounced customer focus. Applicants should have good communication and negotiation skills, be able to work in a diverse team environment and accomplish goals in line with team objectives. Essential Skills Experience operating and managing critical IT infrastructure environments. Solid work experience with UnixLinux OSes SLES and Solaris, system administration and customization. Very good knowledge of enterprise serverdesktop hardware HPIBM Experience in Virtualization solutions such as VMware. Experience in Storage Area Networks SAN, midrange and enterprise storage arrays. Experience on MariaDB, MySQL and Oracle databases Good knowledge of scripting languages bash, perl, awk and similar Great communication and problem solving skills. An advancedlevel command of English and an ability to present output in a clear, concise and understandable way, both orally and in writing Good communication and mediation skills Proactive and confident personality. Ability to manage assigned activitiestasks accountability and respect for deadlines.
