BusinessGreen: US wind energy developers added a record 13.1GW of capacity during 2012, trumping gas capacity to become the largest source of new power generation for the first time, industry figures show. The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) revealed yesterday that the industry had posted its strongest ever year, taking cumulative wind capacity to over 60GW - just five months after it passed the 50GW mark - and sailing past the previous annual record of 10GW of new capacity that was set in 2010.
