(Telecompaper) Virtualisation and cloud infrastructure provider VMware unveiled a range of new products for its unified hybrid cloud platforms at VMworld 2015 that are designed to help customers build applications faster, improve IT security and rapidly recover from disasters. Many of the new features are based on the company's vCloud Air platform, the public cloud component of VMware's unified platform, and include vCloud Air Disaster Recovery Services, providing users with a single cloud-based orchestration console and cloud services to protect on-and-off-premises resources, vCloud Air Object Storage, a portfolio of scalable storage services for unstructured data, and vCloud Air SQL, a database-as-a-service offering that allows users to access scalable, cloud-hosted relational databases via a pay-as-you-go model to extend on-premise databases to the cloud.
