(Telecompaper) VMware has announced the launch of a number of network functions virtualization (NFV) offerings to help communications services providers (CSPs) migrate their infrastructure to a software-based model. Announced at VMworld 2015 Europe in Barcelona, the offerings include the vCloud NFV platform, the VMWare Ready accreditation programme and a number of other services delivered by VMware and its partners. The vCloud NFV platform brings together the core virtualisation and management components required to accelerate NFV deployment, supporting more than 40 virtual network functions from 30 different virtualised network functions (VNF) vendors. Bundled data centre technologies include vSphere, Virtual SAN and the NSX platform that provides software-defined networking.
