Vice President, Innovation and Risk Management , SES SL IOM Ref SES0418 Region Europe Location Isle of Man Douglas Company SES Category Other Engineering Technical Position Management Context Responsible for innovation initiatives that can be translated into increased revenue for SES Satellite Leasing SL. Development of relationships with key governmental, industry, academic and other entities through which innovation can be fostered. Coordinate SES SL innovation activities with the SES group innovation activities ensuring synergy and cooperation where appropriate. Also responsible for the implementation of SES SL space insurance programs, associated risk assessments and contribution to Risk Management projects for the SES group. Supports the identification, tracking and analysis of risks in the planning, procurement and operation of the SES satellites and for the development of risk mitigation measures in close coordination with the VP Risk Management of SES Engineering Technology Department, the Finance Department of SES and with the space insurance community. Responsibilities Represent the company together with SES Technology Department procurement teams and satellite contractors on innovation related financial, and technical issues Preparation of technical feasibility studies and analyses for new satellite investments and analyses of the technical conditions of SES SLs inorbit satellites Identification of potential technical risks for the SES SL business and proposal of actions to eliminate, reduce or mitigate them Implementation of innovation initiatives within the SES Group and aligning innovative ideas in SES SLs business plan with the SES organization business plan Identify opportunities within the UK aerospace and related sectors where SESSL may benefit Representation of the SES Group in any relevant associations for innovation in the space industry Perform analytical studies of SES insurance requirements and strategies, such as retention analyses Support the planning, negotiation and management of launch, inorbit and third party liability insurance contracts Report to the SES SL and SES Technology Department and finance departments on insurance matters for the purposes of Business Plan development, transfer pricing, and captive management Manage Third Party Liability policy requirements in relation to UK government launch licensing activities Support the development of contingency plans Support risk management activities and reporting. Experience Qualifications Degree in a technical, project management or related field is required with a Masters degree in Economics, Mathematics or Physics Minimum of 10 years experience in the satellite aerospace andor telecom industry field Must have good interpersonal, verbal, written and presentational skills Must have the ability to interface effectively at various levels of the SES and contractor organisations An engineering or project management background, ideally having previously worked in the commercial space industry Available to travel up to 50 of the time.
