Vodafone Italia, TIM reach 5G network sharing deal, may combine towers into single unit

(Telecompaper) Vodafone Italia and TIM (Telecom Italia) have signed a memorandum of understanding to share the cost of rolling out new 5G infrastructure throughout Italy. Under the terms of the so-called Active Sharing Project, the operators have committed to evaluating the technical and commercial feasibility of jointly deploying active 5G equipment across the country as well as sharing their existing 4G networks in order to support 5G active network sharing.
