Worlds smallest ARM chip has huge implications for implantable tech

Freescale has just introduced the worlds smallest ARM Cortex powered microcontroller unit (MCU), the Kinetis KL02. As compared with the nearest competing MCU, the Kinetis consumes 25% less board area yet provides 60% more general purpose input-output (GPIO). Freescale has not identified the customer driver for this chip but a quick look at the datasheet may give us rough idea -- and it may be closer than you think.
