Huawei grows smartphone shipments 25% in H1

(Telecompaper) Huawei said it grew smartphone shipments 25 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2016 to 60.56 million. This far outpaces the estimated 3.1 percent global market growth, the company noted. Total revenue from its Consumer Business Group increased 41 percent year-on-year to CNY 77.4 billion in the first half, thanks to strong demand outside its home market China. In particular, the company saw strong demand in high-end smartphone markets such as Europe and emerging markets including North Africa, Central Asia and Latin America, Huawei said.

Huawei grows H1 sales 40% to CNY 245.5 billion

(Telecompaper) Huawei announced its sales rose 40 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2016 to CNY 245.5 billion. The company's operating margin was 12 percent. CFO Sabrina Men said the company achieved "steady growth" across all three of its business groups, but did not provide further results. She said Huawei is expected to "maintain its current momentum" in the rest of the year.

AT&T grows Q2 results on DirecTV expansion

(Telecompaper) AT&T reported second-quarter revenues up 22 percent year-on-year to USD 40.5 billion, helped by its takeover of DirecTV a year ago. Operating profit rose to USD 6.6 billion from USD 5.8 billion, and the adjusted operating margin improved 30 basis points to 20.1 percent. Net profit increased to USD 3.4 billion or USD 0.55 per diluted share, compared to USD 3.1 billion or USD 0.59 per share in the year-ago quarter. Adjusting for USD 0.17 of amortization, merger- and integration-related costs and other expenses, EPS rose to USD 0.72 from USD 0.70. Cash from operating activities was USD 10.3 billion in the second quarter, and capital investment1 totaled USD 5.6 billion. Free cash flow cash from operating activities minus capital expenditures was USD 4.8 billion, up 8.4 percent year over year.

Vodacom Group quarterly revenue grows 5.8% to ZAR 19.9 bln

(Telecompaper) Vodacom Group's revenue increased by 5.8 percent to ZAR 19.9 billion for the quarter ended 30 June compared to ZAR 18.81 billion in the same period in 2015. Service revenue rose by 7.3 percent to ZAR 16.81 billion.
