The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has fined a company more than $13,000 because of an oil spill last fall. A cargo vessel owned by Oriente Maritime collided with Pier 1 at the Port of Astoria, spilling 250 gallons of diesel fuel into the Columbia River.

Hackensack River walkway in Secaucus officially opens

The Hudson County Improvement Authority and the Hackensack Riverkeeper officially opened the recently completed promenade at Laurel Hill Park in Secaucus Tuesday at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The construction of the elevated walkway was overseen by both groups.
