2 new large natural gas exporting facilities proposed for Louisiana, along Mississippi River

Two companies are looking at building large facilities along the Mississippi River south of New Orleans where they can export natural gas to the world market, another sign of the expanding footprint of the natural gas industry in Louisiana. Until now, the area around Lake Charles has been the centre of a boom in the market to import and export natural gas with 10 projects in various stages of development there.

Guardian: Indigenous groups from across the world staged a paddle down the Seine river in Paris on Sunday, calling on governments to ensure Indigenous rights are included in the United Nations climate pact currently being negotiated in France. Duke Energy wants 50-year license to manage river

Duke Energy has a new hydropower license to manage the Catawba River for the next 40 years but wants that license extended so it can manage the waterway for the next half century. The Charlotte Observer reports that during three years of negotiations, the utility agreed to protect additional land in the river basin if it got a 50-year license.
