Package description Highly competitive salary Corporate Benefits Package Relocation Assistance if applicable Further information available from the Serco Europe Recruitment Team Main responsibilities Tasks and Responsibilities Support the Sentinel3 PDGS Operations with respect to EUMETSATs Marine Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS maintenance in particular anomaly correction and software release processes in the area of data processing systems from instrument source packet level through to level2. Support the coordination of the evolutions of these systems. Duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the day to day operations and maintenance, the analysis and testing of deployments including the handling of anomalies, and the design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. Support the team acting as the focal point for integrating the individual PDGS software components into the related data processing systems, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including support to the endtoend testing of the complete production system. Cover the contribution to the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. This may also entail the participation in the specification and development of monitoring tools for Sentinel3. Ideal candidate Mandatory requirements At least 3 years experience in the maintenance andor engineering of software based systems preferably missioninstrument data processing related Knowledge of software development lifecycles and demonstrable experience Experience in system analysis e.g. decomposition and requirements allocation to systems, subsystems and components preferably data processing related Experience in defining and maintaining interface specifications for engineering systems preferably data processing related Competence in software testing, unit test suite maintenance, automated testing Competence in integration, verification and validation VV activities Experience in software debugging and profiling Experience of source code control systems preferably Git and Subversion The following specific technical skills are highly desirable Experience with Processing Frameworks andor Processing Infrastructures Knowledge of the ESA generic Instrument Processing Facility IPF interface specification and relevant technical standards e.g. ECSS, CCSDS, OGCCCJava programming language experience in a UNIXLinux based environment Knowledge of scripting languages e.g. Bash, Python Knowledge of web technologies, programming and markup languages e.g. Apache, JavaScript, XML and related technologies Experience with configuration management and control tools. The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require you to be able to work with a high degree of autonomy and to demonstrate good analytical skills. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore you must be able to work effectively in this language. Data Processing VV Engineer

Within the Data Processing Systems Engineering Competence Area DP SA of the System Engineering and Projects SEP Division, the Data Processing Verification and Validation VV Engineer support the VV activities of the data processing systems during their initial development and as part of upgrades and maintenance. The engineer will also contribute to the definition of verification and validation strategies, plans, procedures in the design phase of new or evolved Data Processing systems. DUTIES Define and manage the VV plans and schedule for data processing functions that are part of different endtoend satellite systems developed or exploited by EUMETSAT Leadcoordinate the implementation and execution of the approved Data Processing VV plans and test campaigns, including preparation and coordination of related Test Readiness Reviews TRRs and Test Review Board meetings TRBs Develop maintain the supporting environments and tools including automated verification environments required for the timely and efficient execution of planned test campaigns, including procurement of new tools, maintenance and evolution of existing ones, and procurement and management of external support Support for the definition of new or updated Data Processing Systems and Applications VV strategies and roadmaps including relevant budgetary inputs Lead the identification and handling of Data Processing VV related risks Support the Data Processing Systems and Applications Competence Area Manager in defining long term plans and roadmaps to harmonise engineering, maintenance and evolutions of Data Processing Systems across all satellite systems exploited by EUMETSAT. DLINE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Proven experience in engineering of Data Processing systems following well established processes, covering the full development lifecycle and relevant technical standards e.g. ECSS, CCSDS, OGC Demonstrable knowledge of software development lifecycles and change control processes Experience in the area of Data Processing Systems Verification Validation VV activities, including identification of necessary test data and tools, automated testing in support of system testing, software testing, unit testing, software debugging and profiling Ability to manage complex tasks with minimum supervision, including planning and prioritisation of activities, allocation and coordination of resources including budget, monitoring and reporting Good interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to apply these to a team environment while working within a matrix structure Experience leadingcoordinating engineering teams and in the management of industrial contracts will be considered an advantage. In addition, it would be an advantage to be certified in one of the recognised bodies for SW testing e.g. International Software Testing Qualifications Board ISTQBUALIFICATIONS A university degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering or another relevant discipline. Candidates must be able to work effectively in English and have some knowledge of French. EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS The initial contract will be of 4 years duration, with subsequent 5year contracts being awarded thereafter, subject to individual performance and organisation requirements. There is no limit to the amount of followup contracts a staff member can receive up to the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63 and there are certainly opportunities to establish a long career perspective at EUMETSAT. This post is graded A2A4 on the EUMETSAT salary scales. The minimum basic salary for this post is EURO 5,612 per month net of internal tax which may be negotiable on the basis of skills and experience. The salary scale provides for increments on the anniversary of taking up employment, and scales are reviewed by the EUMETSAT Council with effect from 1 January each year.
