(Telecompaper) US pay TV operator Dish has announced the launch of the Stop Mega Cable Coalition, formed to raise awareness about the substantial harm to the cable TV and broadband markets of Charter Communication's proposed acquisition of Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. The coalition includes a number of telecom companies, media businesses, public interest groups and trade association. The members' main concern is the potential creation of a duopoly in the cable broadband market, comprising Charter and Comcast.

Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd., concerned that mounting political pressure may scuttle its proposed stock- and-cash bid for Norfolk Southern Corp., plans to change strategy to sway lawmakers and reverse the momentum. "When you're playing the game and somebody changes the rules on you, you have to review your strategies," Canadian Pacific Chief Executive Officer Hunter Harrison said Thursday on a conference call.
