Airtel Africa plans tower sales to reduce USD 3.5 bln debt

(Telecompaper) Airtel Africa plans to sell about 4,500 telecommunication towers in five countries including Tanzania and Madagascar to help reduce USD 3.5 billion of debt and prepare for bond repayments, Bloomberg reported. The operator is also disposing of mobile masts in Gabon, Malawi and Chad, CEO Raghunath Mandava told Bloomberg in an interview. Mandava said Airtel is constantly seeking to bring down debt, and prefers to do so even faster with the tower deals.

American Tower buys InSite Wireless for USD 3.5 billion

(Telecompaper) American Tower has agreed to buy InSite Wireless Group, adding around 3,000 sites to its footprint in the US and Canada. The company will pay USD 3.5 billion for InSite including assumption of its debt.

Today American Tower Corporation (ATC) has announced an agreement to purchase InSite Wireless Group for $3.5 billion including debt.   The deal will see them acquire roughly 3,000 sites, including 1,400 owned towers in the US and 200 in Canada. Hutchison and Cellnex confirm 'advanced talks' over EUR 10 bln tower asset sales

(Telecompaper) CK Hutchison, the parent company of mobile operator 3 Group, has confirmed recent reports that it is in advanced negotiations regarding the sale of its European mobile tower business to Spanish operator Cellnex Telecom, already Europe's largest mobile towers company. In a statement, CK Hutchison said it has reached "substantial agreement" on the key commercial terms for the disposal of the telecommunications infrastructure assets in Europe held indirectly by its CK Hutchison Group Telecom Holdings subsidiary to Cellnex. It added that total proceeds on completion of the transactions would amount to around EUR 10 billion, including minority partners' shares.
