Whiting Petroleum Buys Kodiak Oil & Gas For $3.8 Billion

"Whiting is buying a company that more than doubled production last year," Bloomberg said.

Whiting said the deal, valued at $6 billion when Kodiak's net debt of $2.2 billion is included, is expected to close in the fourth quarter.

The capex budget for the full year has about $940 million, the company said.

New wells planned amid strong cash flow, production

Each exchange offer will expire on Dec. 2, unless extended.
