It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for a Data Services Subject Matter Expert has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. You will act as the Technical Security Subject Matter Expert on Applications and Data Services within the Technical Innovations Team to enable the development of new services providing advice at both the system and technical level. Part of your job is to remain current and proficient in the subject area which will require attendance and successful completion of both professional and trade training. A specific task is to investigate and productise the use of light as a communication medium within the services which Airbus provides its cutomers. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include You will manage and coordinate activities to investigate and design new technology and solutions to enable both military and commercial secure services. You will work with Sales, Service Creation and Customers to identify opportunities for the integration of new technological capabilities into new or existing services which will create customer value and enable Airbus Defence Space to develop profitable service offers. You will investigate and define ways in which the IPD team can utilize light as a communications bearer to create new service offerings to Military and OGD customer bases. You will act as the focal point for the design and delivery of data applications within the IPD Team maintaining your skillset and knowledge through the appropriate training and attendance at appropriate exhibitions. You will be responsible for training the Technical Innovations team to a common level of awareness and provide sufficient understanding to allow them to discharge their tasks as design engineers with your assistance. You will be responsible for maintaining a portfolio of competitor and industry offerings and roadmaps. You will be responsible for managing the IPD teams test equipment. You will assist in IPD team tasks as directed. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree or equivalent qualification in a Business or Engineering discipline. Evidenced knowledge of Cryptographic principles and Network Engineering, IA certification a benefit. Evidenced knowledge of Software principles and proven capability in C and Linux a benefit. Successful Management experience, with proven decision making ability. Evidenced technical and practical competence in the design and maintenance of Switching, Routing, Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention, Web Security, WAN Optimisation, Satellite comms to include traditional SCPC circuits and DVB RCS ie iDirect networks and the use of analysers for RF and network. Proven ability to work across International organisations. Ability to communicate effectively with clients andor employees of the organization. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality with proprietary information. Commercial mind set and strong negotiations skills. Able to represent the company in global industry forums.
