Axiata's H1 revenue declines 2.3% on MYR 400 mln COVID-19 impact

(Telecompaper) Axiata Group reported revenue of MYR 11.8 billion for the first half of 2020, which represents a decline of 2.3 percent year-to-date, mainly due to the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic containment measures implemented across the group. Axiata Group estimated a COVID-19 revenue impact of MYR 400 million in the first half of 2020, mainly from distribution shutdowns and outlet closures during stringent movement controls, preventing subscribers from accessing prepaid reloads as well as the provision of free data and bonus recharge to customers.

Ice Group posts 2nd quarterly positive EBITDA, lifts smartphone revenue 19%, holds talks over more funding

(Telecompaper) Norwegian mobile operator Ice Group has announced positive adjusted EBITDA for the second quarter in a row in Q2 2020 and extended its customer base for the 21st consecutive quarter. Smartphone service revenue was up by 19 percent year on year and the operator has a 10 percent market share. It announced talks for more funding and will release details about this once they have reached a conclusion.

Swisscom trims FY revenue outlook as Q2 sales fall 3%

(Telecompaper) Swisscom said its net revenues decreased by 3.3 percent in Q2 to CHF 2.02 billion. The Covid-19 pandemic led to a reduction in customer travel, resulting in lower roaming revenues of CHF 41 million, it said. EBITDA after lease expenses fell by 2.2 percent to CHF 833 million, while operating cash flow jumped by 68.9 percent to CHF 424 million.

Deutsche Telekom Q2 results up on Sprint takeover, underlying revenue down 0.6%

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom reported a surge in second-quarter results following its takeover of US operator Sprint. Revenues rose 37.5 percent to EUR 27.0 billion, and adjusted EBITDA AL jumped 56.4 percent to EUR 9.8 billion. Adjusted for the takeover and currency effects, revenues were down 0.6 percent, and EBITDA increased 8.4 percent.
