(Telecompaper) Vodacom Group improved its revenue growth to 6.6 percent in the company's fiscal third quarter ended 31 December, to ZAR 23.6 billion. Service revenue rose 5.7 percent to ZAR 18.9 billion, and Vodacom said it added 2 million customers during the quarter to serve a total of 117 million, including Safaricom.

(Telecompaper) Google's parent company Alphabet reported a return to profit growth in the fourth quarter, while revenue growth slowed from previous quarters. Sales increased 17 percent to USD 46.1 billion, operating profit rose 20 percent to USD 9.3 billion, and net profit improved to USD 10.7 billion from USD 8.9 billion in the year-earlier period.

Baidu raises Q4 revenue guidance, postpones results amid coronavirus outbreak

(Telecompaper) Baidu has updated its guidance for the fourth quarter of 2019. Baidu has also postponed the date for reporting its financial results for the fourth quarter to 27 February, "due to the evolving situation brought upon by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in China". This decision is expected to give Baidu "more time to observe the business condition for the first quarter of 2020", the company said.

The company also warned that the recent government decision on the use of certain network vendors would cost the company around GBP 500 million over five years.
