GI's Sewer Project Goes Under Interstate to Reach Businesses

Interstate 80 traffic rolls by the Highway 281 interchange at Grand Island, and nearby crews work on connecting the hotels and gas stations there to city sewer lines. "Currently these folks have their own wastewater treatment plants, kind of package plants, so we are hooking them up to the City of Grand Island public sewer system which is in really great standing with the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality," says Tara Bevard, Project Manager for the City.

SE Hawthorne-Salmon Area Green Street and Sewer Project Update: October 22, 2015

Environmental Services will begin construction in early November 2015 on the SE Hawthorne-Salmon Area Green Street and Sewer Project which will include installing 23 green street planters, planting 100 street trees, and repairing or replacing over 10,000 feet of public sewer pipe. These improvements will extend the service life of our sewer system and protect public health, property and the environment by reducing the possibility of sewage releases into streets, homes and businesses.

SE 45th/46th and Sherman Sewer Repair Project Update: October 23, 2015

Environmental Services has started work on a project to replace and upsize about 700 feet of public sewer pipes on SE 45th and SE 46th avenues between SE Sherman and SE Division streets. The sewers are 103 years old and deteriorating due to age. Several pipes have holes and roots in them. The work also includes adding 320 feet of pipe on SE Ivon Street between SE 41st and SE 42nd avenues.

Sellwood-Moreland Sewer Rehab Project Construction Update: October 16, 2015

Environmental Services is repairing or replacing about 25,000 feet of public sewer pipes in the Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood that are between 80 and 100 years old and failing due to age. This project will help protect the public and the environment by reducing the possibility of costly breaks, leaks, blockages and sewage releases to homes, businesses and streets.

Town seeks firm to help fix sewer system

Town Council plans to interview two of the four companies that offered to provide engineering services to help tackle the problem of inflow and infiltration that affects the sewer system and Front Royal's ability to treat wastewater. The matter comes up for discussion at council's work session Monday.
