Position Reference 961 NEOCC is ESAs centre for computing asteroid and comet orbits and their probabilities of Earth impact. RHEA Group is proud to contribute to this important service. In this context, we are currently recruiting for a NEOCC Front Desk Operator to work at our clients premises in Frascati, Italy. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Operate the orbit determination and impact monitoring software which is currently used at the NEO Coordination Centre NEOCC. User support in accessing the available S2PPD tools, data and information. Act as an interface between the external experts and the ESAinternal technical team, in particular to update software and hardware upon request of the TO. Awareness of ongoing activities related to NEOs by following news feeds, internet, email lists, and maintaining a network of contacts in the asteroid community. Provide support to outreach activities to promote the work of the S2PPD office input to the ESA corporate Twitter and Facebook accounts posts on the Minor Planet Mailing List. Act as the first contact point for users of the S2PPD office by phone, email, or personal contact by answering inquiries and providing additional information as requested by the user. User support in accessing the available S2PPD tools, data and information. Act as an interface between the external experts and the ESAinternal technical team, in particular to update to soft and hardware upon request of ESA Technical Officer. Support the preparation of NEOrelated articles for the NEO web pages. Prepare and issue news releases on a regular basis typically once per month. Prepare and issue Close Encounter Fact Sheets when needed. Perform regular maintenance tasks as described in the Operation procedures document. Update the NEO operation procedures in case of need, but at least every 6 months. Represent the NEOCC at scientific conferences. Support public events and meetings. In case of an upcoming impact or fireballbolide 1. Alert the ESA S2PPD team in case of imminent impacts or fireballsbolides. 2. In that case, put out an alert on the S2PPD web site following the rules defined in the Information Plan. 3. Send out push warnings according to agreed rules to agreed people. 4. Coordinate the information provided to the public with the NEO office of JPL. The information provision services shall usually be performed during normal working hours however, oncall support shall be envisaged. In case of special events e.g. public events or a credible impact threat flexibility of working hours is expected. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Celestial mechanicsastrodynamics background. Knowledge of orbit determination techniques. Knowledge of asteroid science. Position Reference 129 RHEA Group is currently recruiting for a NEOCC Front Desk Operator to work at our clients premises in Frascati, Italy. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Awareness of ongoing activities related to NEOs by following news feeds, internet, email lists, and maintaining a network of contacts in the asteroid community. Operation of web tools for communicating the activities of the SSANEO segment Twitter, Facebook, posts on the Minor Planet Mailing List. Note that ESA is already maintaining Twitter and Facebook accounts the front desk operator shall coordinate any activities with the relevant ESA personnel. Act as the first contact point for users of the SSANEO segment by phone, email, or personal contact by answering inquiries and providing additional information as requested by the user. User support in accessing the available SSANEO tools, data and information. Act as an interface between the external experts and the ESAinternal technical team, in particular to update to soft and hardware upon request of ESA Technical Officer. Monitor the ESA web pages and copy NEOrelated articles to neo.ssa.esa.int. Support the preparation of NEOrelated articles for the NEO web pages. Prepare and issue news releases on a regular basis typically once per month. Prepare and issue Close Encounter Fact Sheets when needed. Update the contents of the fireball database. Update the contents of the web page with the NEO Chronology provided by K. v. d. Hucht. Validate any updates to the NEO database done by the external experts e.g. double check updated physical property values via the EARN interface. Perform updates to the contents of the web pages and configuration files. Monitor the activity on the web pages and produce regular statistics on the page access and loading times. Perform regular maintenance tasks as described in the Operation procedures document AD01. Ensure that the priority list is updated properly. Update AD01 NEO operation procedures in case of need but at least every 6 months. Keep priority list clear of deleted objects. Represent the NEOCC at scientific conferences a dedicated travel allocation shall be foreseen for a total of three conferences, including one being overseas. Support public events and meetings. Maintain and operate the orbit determination and impact monitoring software.
