Hong Kong January sales came in worse than consensus estimate. While some may blame the calendar shift of the Chinese New Year to be responsible for the weak sales, I would point out these weak sales also highlight the challenges that HK retailers face without the influx of mainland shoppers.
Global Semiconductor Industry Posts Highest-Ever January Sales

The Semiconductor Industry Association , representing U.S. leadership in semiconductor manufacturing and design, today announced that worldwide sales of semiconductors reached $28.5 billion for the month of January 2015, the industry's highest-ever January total and an increase of 8.7 percent from January 2014 when sales were $26.3 billion. Global sales from January 2015 were 2 percent lower than the December 2014 total of $29.1 billion, reflecting normal seasonal trends.

ELFA Monthly Leasing and Finance Index (MLFI-25) for January 2015 shows overall new business volume at $6.7 billion, which is 12% up from January 2014 and 48% down from December. Receivables over 30 days were 1.1%, up from 1% in December and same period in 2014, while charge-offs were unchanged for tenth consecutive month at 0.2%. Also unchanged from December, credit approvals totaled 78.6%. Separately, MCI-EFI for February is 66.3 in slight rise from January's of 66.1.
