Montenegro's TV subscribers down 1,242 in 4Q 2014

The Agency for Electronic Media in Montenegro has released subscriber figures for country's TV operators. At December 31, 2014, the number of connections was 154,393, down 1,242 or 0.8% since end-September 2014.

Shaw cable and satellite subscribers down 30,295 in latest quarter

Shaw Communications has announced results for the first quarter ended November 30, 2014. Consumer Cable Video subscribers declined 11,923 and Satellite Video subscribers decreased 18,372 during the period.

Spotify ends 2014 with 15 mln paid subscribers

(Telecompaper) Music streaming service Spotify has announced that it reached the milestone of 15 million subscribers and 60 million active users at the end of 2014. The company had previously revealed in November that it had a subscriber base of 12.5 million, up from 10 million in May. Spotify launched a US-only promotion at the start of December offering three months of its ad-free Premium service for USD 0.99 instead of the standard rate of USD 9.99 a month. It also began rolling out its Spotify Family service at the end of October, enabling users to invite up to four family members and share one billing account.

Chile adds 22,000 pay TV subscribers in 3Q 2014

Chiles Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (Subtel) has releases pay TV statistics to the end of September 2014. Chile added 22,000 pay TV subscribers in the third quarter to finish the period with a total of 2.77 million.

Over 60% of U.S. payTV subscribers have a DVR

Research from Leichtman Research Group (LRG) has found that 76% of US households have a DVR, subscribe to Netflix, or use on-Demand (VOD) from a cable or Telco provider -- with 26% of households using two of the services, and 11% using all three.
