Teleflex Incorporated , a leading global provider of medical devices for critical care and surgery, has announced that they have donated $10,000 to the American Respiratory Care Foundation . The donation was the result of a photo challenge hosted by Teleflex during the 60th International Congress of the American Association for Respiratory Care held in December, 2014.

Whole Foods Market Capitola, 1701 41st Ave., is getting behind a documentary on fishermen called “Of the Sea” by donating 5 percent of sales Wednesday to the Arts Council of Santa Cruz County to finish editing the film and bring it to California audiences. Filmmaker Mischa Hedges of Berkeley and his team have been capturing stories about fishermen, seafood and sustainability along the California coast, including Santa Cruz and Monterey.

Alameda: City Council drops developers for portion of Alameda Point

The City Council has opted to drop two developers that were in the running to build an 82-acre commercial development at Alameda Point after city officials said they would not commit to funding the project's infrastructure. Councilman Stewart Chen cast the lone no vote Tuesday, saying it is difficult to attract commercial developers and that city officials should continue talks with the Catellus Development Corp. and the Mission Bay Development Group.
