EcoWatch: California`s 2015 methane leak was so large it could be seen from space, according to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) statement released Tuesday. Aliso Canyon's methane leak in Porter Ranch in October 2015 marked the first time an orbiting spacecraft measured a leak from a single facility on Earth. The leak was spotted by the Hyperion spectrometer on NASA`s Earth Observing-1, according to a study by David R. Thompson, of NASA`s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, recently published...

Canada's North Is Going Green Because Of Climate Change: NASA Study
2016-06-07 23:03:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Huffington Post: Climate change has caused almost a third of the land cover in Canada and Alaska to go green, according to a NASA study. Using 87,000 satellite images, researchers found there was extensive greening, or vegetation growth, between 1984 and 2012 in the western Alaska tundra and along the north and northeastern coast of Canada. In the April report, NASA researchers say the most intensive greening was observed in Quebec and Labrador. It's an "unmistakable" trend, researchers wrote. In this...

Temperatures warming faster in Arctic, climate change making regions greener: NASA
2016-06-07 08:56:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Press Trust of India: According to a NASA study, Arctic regions of North America are getting greener, with almost a third of the land cover looking more like landscapes found in warmer ecosystems, owing to the climate change. With 87,000 images taken from Landsat satellites, converted into data that reflects the amount of healthy vegetation on the ground, the researchers found that western Alaska, Quebec and other regions became greener between 1984 and 2012. The new Landsat study further supports previous work that...
