Intelligent braking torque control module generates variable braking torque for ROBA-stop® safety brakes, making it possible to decelerate devices and machines evenly and gently. Operated with 24 or 48 Vdc, 103 x 69 x 30 mm module can control brakes with nominal coil current of 10 or 5 A. Resulting clamping force for brake rotor can be specified to 25%, 50%, or 75% of nominal spring force via 2 digital inputs; continuous, analog default signal from 0–10 V is alternatively possible.

Johnson Controls pursues 2018 production of start-stop battery system that nabs energy from braking

Johnson Controls Inc. , in partnership with Toshiba Corp. , recently unveiled a start-stop battery technology for automobiles that captures energy from a braking car. The company projects the system to be in production in 2018, Bloomberg News reports.
